A member asked:

Thinking of buying the now brand aloe vera gel caps but they are 5, 000mg, is that too high & what is a safe dose per day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: There are conditions for which aloe has been shown to be safe and helpful, and conditions for which it has been shown to be ineffective and/or unsafe. Taken orally, aloe has the potential to mess up blood sugar and blood electrolytes (sodium, potassium, etc.). Before you begin taking capsules of anything, know what they are for and talk to a professional about whether they are safe.
