Throat constricting from yesterday morning, few hours after inhaling the smell of old food. it's not my asthma. what and why is it happening?

What kind of odor?: Did the food have a musty smell? Is so, it may be from a delayed response in mold allergy (assuming you are allergic to the molds in the old food). On the other hand, i would expect the reaction to be closer to asthma than a throat constriction unless you developed swelling (or angioedema) of the throat- a rather unlikely event. How long did the throat constriction last?
