Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Maybe (not) . . .: We never recommend taking benzodiazepines such as xanax (alprazolam) and consuming alcohol. Your risk for death increases when combined due to loss of consciousness & inability to protect yourself from choking on your own vomit. In fact, we actively warn patients against combining these two and all information regarding this class of drugs says not to take w/alcohol. Go to er if feeling too sleepy.

Yes but don't drive: This is not a lethal combo, but it is something to discuss with the person who prescribed your xanax (alprazolam) and who hopefully knows you better when you see them next.
