A member asked:

Can there be such a thing as an intestinal yeast infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Yeast in small numbers also live in the large intestine. Some people can get an overgrowth of yeast in the colon, usually due to taking antibiotics or taking in too much sugar - such as sweets, carbs, pop, fruit juice, alcohol. Yeast overgrowth occurs when something decreases the normal bacteria in the colon, then yeast overgrow, occasionally cause an infection, and cause vaginal yeast.
