Variable: The average amount of blood loss during menses is approximately 80 cc. An enterprising ob/gyn resident many years ago did a project that determined the amount of menstrual blood each brand of tampon would hold if soaked so that women could determine how much blood loss they had in any given cycle. I don't think this was published however.
