A member asked:

Where do blood clots come from? i always wondered that, i'm on my period now and just changed my pad and it had some blood blots on it. why does this happen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood should clot: Blood is meant to clot. Some people have bleeding problems because they can't clot their blood. The vagina is elastic and can hold a lot of blood. If it collects for a while like when you are sitting or laying down, it will have time to form clots. When you get up or bear down like when in the bathroom this can force the clots out. Can be alarming but is normal.
