A member asked:

Could you tell me what are second and third doses of vaccines for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insurance: In early childhood the immune system is weaker and repeated doses are required to maintain immunity as the immune system matures. In older kids and adults, the individual differences in people lead to incomplete immunity in some after 1 dose, but increasing long term immunity after 2nd and 3 doses. Without completing the series much of the population would be unprotected and the 1st dose wasted.
