What leads to bladder infections?

Bacteria: When bacteria get into the bladder and start to grow one gets a bladder infection. The most common cause is not urinating after intercourse. Bladder infections are very common and can occur even if you urinate after intercourse, drink plenty of water etc.

Multiple causes: Women get more bladder infections than men. More during pregnancy, some related to sex. In men enlarged prostate predisposes to bladder infections. Bladder stones facilitate infections. Bladder infections are usually bacterial and treatable with antibiotics after addressing the underlying cause.
