Herbs and Supplement: You may be asking the wrong professionals this question. I have waited for a day or so to see if anyone had an answer for you. But, medicine in general, does not see any additional health benefits to this supplement. I would seek out the advice of a naturopath or other herbal specialist.

Evening primrose: See wikipedia for discussion of the flower under: oenothera. The evening primrose seeds contain oil which is a fatty acid. The oil. Contains 7 to 10 percent gamma linolenic acid and about 70 percent linoleic acid. Gamma linolenic acid is a precursor to prostaglandin pge1 (misoprostol) and thromboxane txa1. Pge1 (misoprostol) is involved in immune system regulation.

Well.....: Commercial preparations of evening primrose oil are typically standardized to 8 percent GLA and 72 percent linoleic acid. You don't want to make it yourself. The evidence for it to work is not great. BUT, it has compoents that have effects. However, if something is recommended for everything--and EPO is--then most of the recommendattions have to be wrong.
