Defined: Palpitations are, by definition "an uncomfortable or abnormal awareness of one's own heartbeat." the most common forms of this, which we call pacs or pvcs, are not in fact skipped beats but rather a single extra beat or two which cause a "pause" afterward, making it feel like a skipped beat.
