See derm: There are many creams marketed to "fade" birthmarks but if you have many you should see a dermatologist.

No: Most flat birthmarks are either flame nevi it pigmented nevi. They usually lighten up with age. No topical treatment is needed. Hemangiomas are another type of birthmark. They look like strawberry spots and they too will decrease in size as children age. Large ones have a vascular component and can require treatment.
