Clean clothes: Body lice live in the inner seams of clothing, not on the skin; so most of the time, thoroughly washing all clothing will cure the problem. To be certain, some doctors also prescribe a pediculocide lotion such as Permethrin or malathione. The oral pediculocide Ivermectin has also been reported to work, but is not approved by the fda for that use.

Body lice: Three types of lice can infect humans. Head lice live on the scalp and hair, and infect mostly children. Pubic lice, live on the pubic hairs, and are sexually transmitted. Body lice, live in the clothing, and are almost always in homeless people, with poor hygiene, who never bathe or wash their clothing. All the lice bite and cause itching and sores. All lice can be treated by a dermatologist.
