Yes: It may be a little bit of an oversimplification to say that mania or hypomania lead to pathological lying invariably although it is in fact encountered quite a bit. However, in a mixed state or when someone is very depressed one may get a very different kind of pathological lying that is related to the help rejecting and self destructive patterns seen more typically in depressive states.
