Maybe zero: Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) is generally not used on facial burns to avoid getting it in the eyes, which is not good. Rather, antibiotic ointment (e.g., bacitracin, polysporin, neosporin, triple-antibiotic ointment) is used on facial burns. Such topical antimicrobials are used until the wounds are healed, 1 to 3 weeks for spontaneous 2nd-degree burn healing, or until skin grafting for 3rd-degree burns.
