No, but...: ...Hormone therapy is effective in the control of menopausal hot flashes and sleep deprivation, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and for the prevention of hip and other fractures. Sometimes it is more effective than other alternatives, but in each case alternative remedies may be effective, so it is not truly necessary. Many post-menopausal women get along well without it.
