A member asked:

Are there official recommendations for treating brain bleeding?

5 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Yes: You can review recommedations found in the handbook of neurosurgery by mark greenburg, md. Recommendations include avoiding antiplatelet drugs, normalize coagulation status, watch for neurological change, normalize blood pressure, normalize temperature, elevate the head of the bed, and sometimes surgery. There are many more depending on the type and location of the hemorrhage.

Yes: There are many different kinds of brain bleeding and there are guidelines out there for many of them. The american heart/stroke association has guidelines for intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage. The neurocritical care society also has subarachnoid hemorrhage guidelines. The brain trauma foundation has guidelines for traumatic brain bleeds. Do you have a specific question?
