Normal aging?: Without further information and in the absence of any reported symptoms, the hard lump the middle of your chest may be from ossification of the xiphoid process, located in the lower part of the sternum. It is the last bone to ossify in adults and usually does so in the 30's to 40's. Some report this as a new hard lump. Have your doctor examine it at your next appointment or annal physical.
