Sterile gauze: If the burn is greater than 3 inches, treat it as a 3rd degree burn and get immediate help. Don't put any household items on burst blisters as this may just lead to infection. Wrap loosely with sterile gauze (not cotton!). Bacitracin is optional (may reduce infection, may delay granulation [healing]). Call your md if you notice signs of infection: increased pain, redness, fever, swelling, oozing.
