Yes: The placental maturity is graded based on it's us appearance. As the grade increases, there are more hyper echoic areas, calcifications and irregularity of the chorionic plate (the area which makes villi) grade 0 is typically seen up to 18 weeks, grade i 18-29 weeks, grade ii >30 weeks and grade iii > 39 weeks. Becoming grade iii before 39 weeks is concerning.
