A member asked:

What things predispose someone to aplastic anemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Aplastic Anemia: Stem cell failure can be congenital (eg, fanconi anemia) or, much more often, acquired. The major causes of acquired aplastic anemia are exposure to a wide variety of drugs and chemicals, ionizing radiation, and some viruses. Aplastic anemia has also occurred in patients with other immune disorders and occasionally in pregnancy, (frequently self-limited, ending with delivery).
