Genital Herpes: First. To cut down on the contagiousness of your partner he should be on a daily dose of valacyclovir. Second, just because he has been exposed to herpes type two, that does not imply that he has herpes on his penis. Unless he has sores and knows where his infection is then one cannot just assume they are on the penis. It sounds like you need a doctor that is up to date on this information.

It can be OK: As long as you use proper protection, you are at low risk to catch hsv from your partner. Even if you did, you would have to have active lesions on your cervix for the baby to be exposed during vaginal delivery; in that case a c-section might be recommended. However, if you do get infected during pregnancy, suppressive therapy may prevent active cervical lesions, allowing for natural delivery.
