Diphenhydramine or : Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may cause sedation the next day (due to its long half-life), decreased alertness, diminished cognitive function, delirium, dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, constipation, and increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma). It can also interact with many medications. Routine use of for long term treatment of insomnia is not recommended and should be discussed with your doctor.
