Remove toxin on skin: The problem with poison oak/ivy is that the toxin binds to the skin and doesn't come off with plain soap. So the inciting allergen remains in the skin and makes the immune reaction worse day by day, literally until the skin grows out and the outer layer sheds (a couple of weeks). You can prevent this, or treat an ongoing rash, by using a soap that removes the toxin, eg Tecnu. Plus steroid crm
