I went to the doctor to get tested for herpes, it came back negative. the doc said she doesn't believe the results were correct, what should i assume?

Herpes: It could be challenging and confusing to diagnose. Incubation could be 2-12 day after exposure. You may have painfulf burning blister, burning with urination or no symptoms. May be shedding (passing virus) with no symptoms. Blood test could be negative so repeat it in 6-12 weeks. Testing fresh blister tends to be more sensitive if clinically suspicious is better to treat even if test is neg.

Diagnosing herpes: If your doctor is experienced with herpes and remains suspicious, you may have it despite negative test. The herpes tests aren't perfect and can miss it, especially a swab test for culture or DNA testing, if the sore is starting to heal. OTOH, even the top herpes experts often have trouble based only on examining an outbreak. Have a blood test to check for both HSV1 and HSV2. Good luck!
