Yes: You can get the disease and if you survive you will develop immunity to prevent a recurrence. You can walk the paths through a graveyard with headstones from the 18 and 1900's and notice all the little baby headstones. So soon we loose the memory of how bad it was and get caught up in how little babies don't like shots.
