What differentiates the atria from the ventricles?

Anatomy: Between the atria and the ventricles are the atrioventricular valves and their structures. These valves are the mitral and tricuspid.

Location: They are different chambers of the heart. The atria are the 2 upper and the ventricles the 2 lower. Blood flows from the Right atrium to right ventricle thru the pulmonary aorta to the lungs and than to the left atria and then the left ventricle and out to the body in the aorta.
