Abd pain/pale stools: The liver releases bile salts into the stool, giving it a normal brown color. pale, clay-colored stools may be due to liver or biliary tract problems, such as hepatitis or gallstones, possibly accompanied by jaundice or dark urine. Pale, yellow, greasy, foul-smelling stools may be due to malabsorption of fat as seen with pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer or celiac disease.
