Perhaps: Asperger's disorder is characterized by high degrees of social disconnection. There may be limited empathy as it is a nonverbal social response. However, there are other reasons for a lack of connection to a sad event as well that may not be disorders at all. Proximity to the sad event, personal connections to the event, interpretations about the level of sadness all play a role.
