Usually SVT: It depends on the palpitations - if it's just one or two beats' worth, probably nothing and the chest pain should be investigated on its own merits. If there are prolonged, fast palpitations (>120/min or so) we'd use a monitor to see if your heart had flipped into an abnormal rhythm. Such rhythm problems can often be treated by an electrophysiologist, especially in a young patient like yourself.
