PFTs: Pulmonary function tests (pfts) can diagnose asthma and copd. Asthma has reversible obstruction whereas COPD has chronic obstruction. If your pfts show no obstruction when you are not having an exacerbation, the diagnosis is most likely asthma. If obstruction is still present and does not completely reverse with bronchodilator, the diagnosis is likely COPD (chronic obstructed pulmonary disease).
