Socializing: Humans are naturally social, although we have different levels of need for this. Still, learning to successfully communicate with other people is an important part of growth and development. Your mentality could indeed be "messed up" if you stay self-absorbed all the time, because the world is much larger than you alone. It's there for you to participate in and enjoy, if you wish.
