Alopecia Areata: This is the medical term for your condition and if i remember correctly from my dermotology rotation in medical shcool it is not that uncommon and it could be due to trauma, foreign body lodging in the area or autoimmune. It can happen to beard, scalp and both men and women. Fortunately over 65% recover the spot within one year. See your family dr. And see if it warrants a dermatology consult.
