Sleep: The question is how long is your infant sleeping per 24 hours. At 8 month the typical baby sleeps 13 to 14 hours per day. How is the baby eating? Is he responsive when he is awake. If these are normal then not to worry. Now if you mean the baby's activity is decreased and he is not interactive when awake then he needs to be seen by a doctor urgently as this is a sign of a serious problem.

Sleeping issues: The normal amount of sleep in an 8 month old is about 13-14 hours/day, give or take. They usually take a nap in A.M. And one in the P.M. About an hour long. When you refer to oversleeping, it would be nice to know what you exactly mean by that.
