EMG has limitations: It can still be nerve pain even with an emg/ncv, this test does not detect damage to the small nerve fibers that transmit pain. Fibromyalgia although less common in young men, can present with muscle pains in all 4 quadrants of the body, above & below waist, left & right side.

Suggestions: Although a question arises regarding fibromyalgia, the possibility of small fibre neuropathy is not excluded. To sort out, you should have a 3 site skin punch biopsy procedure. If positive, there are only a few possible causes, and these can readily be tracked down.
