A member asked:

Ammonia level of 72 dangerously high 1st time checked it was 43 second time it was 72 2 weeks apart i have gilberts syndrome do i need to go to er?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ammonia level: This is concerning...Gilbert's should not cause elevated ammonia levels, so a different cause needs to be investigated. Liver disease, whether acute toxicity or chronic illness, can cause elevated ammonia. Please see your physician soon, and you may need a liver specialist (hepatologist) as well.
