Depends on cause: There are many causes of thinning hair and some, like hypothyroidism or vitamin deficiency, are reversible. Vitamins needed for healthy hair include b3, b5, b6, b12, biotin & a, c, d, e & zinc. While deficiencies can cause hair loss & taking these may prevent hair loss, they are not proven to restore hair loss in most, but are worth a try. For healthy hair growth: Get adequate sleep, avoid excess sugar & fat in diet, v carbonated beverages, eat enough protein, exercise regularly. Biotin helps (but don't over do it). Insure you have adequate Iron (think kale & other dark green leafies), Omega 3 fatty acids (think walnuts) >
