Remnant of the past: Long before we are born, we have a connection between our bladder and umbilical cord. It's a tube called the urachal duct. It shrivels away and becomes a tiny empty remnant of a duct as a baby develops and matures. In a few people, part of the duct remains and can have some fluid inside it... Which is called a cyst. The cyst may enlarge over time (sometimes get infected). Surgery removes the cyst.
