Varies: If there are no problems, a first scan at around 10 weeks is useful to confirm dates and establish the number of fetuses. A scan between 14-20 weeks can be done to survey the fetus and confirm normalcy as well as checking placental position. Scans after 24 weeks can be done to follow fetal growth as needed and to check fetal position before labor.
