Probable asthma: Allergic bronchitis is an antiquated term. Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes and allergic indicates an allergic reaction is causing the inflammation. Bronchial inflammation causes hyper-reactivity, meaning that the bronchial tubes react to smaller amounts of irritation than normals by narrowing (chest tightness, wheezing), coughing and making more mucus, i.e., asthma.
