Do i have to be off of warfarin for a period of time to be fully tested for coagulating problems? i have my 2nd uedvt.

Yes: Some of the specifics tests require that. A number can be done while on however. Your lab can give you the list.

May be: Given that there is now competition for warfarin, consider changing to xarelto which is approved for DVT in us. Additionally, once you have recurrent dvt, you are committed to anticoagulation. Therefore, while may be good to know the reason for hypercoagulability, it is unlikely to change type and duration of treatment.

Off Coumadin (warfarin): In order to test to see if you have a protein c or a protein s deficiency (that can make you hypercoagulable) you must be off Coumadin (warfarin) for a while first.
