Combo treatments: Chronic pain is a broad problem and can encompass many different treatments. You may need pain medications, there are pain specialist to see, trying alternative therapies with acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, rolfing, meditation are also very helpful. Eating well, sleeping well, and exercise can help as well.

Difficult to answer: Chronic pain is a rather tricky condition to treat. Once the actual diagnosis of chronic pain- usually continues long after the injury or insult has healed- determination of neurological involvement must be made. Not all chronic pain requires opioids alone. If your physician is so inclined, you may require a pain management specialist. Talk it over with your physician.
