Soft palate: During the act of swallowing, soft palate moves up to fully separate your nose from the throat, so no food would go up to your nose. If the soft palate malfunctions, then traces or even larger quantities may travel to the nasopharynx and gets stuck there. A swallow study may be needed to elucidate this.
