A member asked:

I've been on the same pill for 3 yrs and for the first time im having break through bleeding. how do i stop this? is it something to worried about?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not normal: It could be caused by a number of different things. Other medications, infections, cervical or uterine growths, or other hormonal changes (such as your thyroid) can all cause this. After being on a pill for a few years, sometimes the lining of the uterus will get too thin. An estrogen supplement for a week may help with this. See your doctor to figure out what the cause is and what to do about it.
