Yes: Infections can affect your hormones and menstrual cycle. At age 48, it would also be normal to start having perimenopausal symptoms, which means that your menstrual cycles become more irregular. Average age of menopause is 51, but at 48 sometimes the intervals between bleeding begin to change. I hope your infection is clearing up and you're feeling better!
