#1 -R/O pregnancy: Could be hormonal or in your mid 40s could be perimenopausal where u start to skip periods which is normal at that age.

Anovulation: If you missed a period and your pregnancy test came back negative, then you most likely had an anovulatory cycle, meaning your ovaries didn't release an egg.
