Malnutrition & death: Depriving ones-self of nutrition causes damage to all of the body's systems. If it lasts long enough or goes far enough, the body will stop functioning and die. Determining the damage and getting the problems corrected if possible is difficult and can require interventions that need to be done inpatient.
