Positional swelling: During the night, your legs are even with your heart and the blood and lymphatic fluid doesn't pool in your legs. During day, with legs hanging down all day, the fluid can accumulate and cause the swelling. Compression stockings, squeezing your calf muscles during the day, trying to put our feet up intermittently during the day, or a couple of walks during the day may help.
