COPD: Copd, asthma, or other lung diseases by themselves do not cause fever. Recent "atelectasis" that can occur after prolonged bed rest or inactivity can sometimes cause a transient fever. Levels of high co2 or low o2 will not be associated with fever. There is a higher risk of infection with lung disease so must get checked out by doctor and likely get a CBC and chest x-ray.

Sometimes: COPD may cause low grade fever if inflammation in the airway is present. The lung is responsible for eliminating carbon dioxide produced by the body. If carbon dioxide is high then the oxygen level will be lower. An arterial blood gas can determine if hypercarbia is present. Therapy includes bronchodilators and possible low flow oxygen.
