Escape: Body fluids, including urine, just follows the path of least resistance. If the fistula connection provides an easier way to escape than the "normal" route, then involuntary urine loss will follow.

Infection: Bowel to bladder fistulae (tunnels) can cause constant inflammation/ infection, leading to the typical symptoms of uti, including urgency, leakage, pain etc. Passage of air in the urine is pretty much diagnostic of this, so if this is happening to you, get checked!

Equal parts: They should be putting out approximately the same amount as they are taking in. Signs of excessive urine loss are sunken eyes, dry mouth, wrinkled skin, and sunken fontenelles.

Varies with disease: Benign prostatic hypertrophy, bph, is associated w. Urinary frequency day & more at night + slowing down of force & caliber of stream. Symptoms increase as obstrruction from enlarging prostate increases. Ultimately urinary retenention can occur. In time all symptomatic. Early to moderate prostate cancer can be symptom free, few have blood. All patients w prostatitis are symptomatic w pain +/or uti.
