A member asked:

Does seroquel (quetiapine) xr work the same as valium and if im having sedation problems in the morning will they go away soon it's only my second day. thanks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sedation: Seroquel (quetiapine) is known to cause sedation that sometimes can be pretty bothersome. It, however, doesn't work as valium in that it is not addictive, although, sedation may be just as bothersome. Xr formulations may be more sedative than short acting ones and you may discuss with your physician possible switch. Sedation side effect may get better with time.
